It's about Nancy, though I suppose more specifically your club.
I want to believe that I'm right that you care about your employees, and whilst I know Nancy can look out for herself I know how much better it can be if someone else is also making sure you're safe.

Sounds like you care a lot about this girl.

If you're asking me to look out for her, I'll be doing that for all my employees.

I can't give her special treatment. You know she'd hate that if she found out. And she would find out because she's smart.

I do.

( she could say she's contracted with her but that isn't why she cares )

I'm not asking for special treatment, I just want to make sure that someone is making sure she's okay. If you're already doing that for everyone that works for you then there won't be a problem.

If it makes you feel any better, she's close to my sister's age and so is another girl working for me. There's no way I'd let anything bad happen to them in my club.

I'm glad to hear that. I thought you'd be someone to rely on.

His name's Dean. He means well but his concern is a little less gentle. I don't know if he will contact you but I thought I'd warn you.

I avoided that. Not what else happened.

[ He's been busy with his strip club, hoping the crimes will come to an end so he can open it. ]

There were portals in the city that demons emerged from and lured you to. For sex.

I take it you slept with a demon and you're not happy about it.

When you say it lured you, did you have any control over it?

It took the form of someone I knew, someone I would have wanted to see.

Inside the portal it felt different. I wasn't in control then.

Where did the portal take you?

I don't know. I don't remember anything physical, more a feeling. I know who they claimed to be, that we had sex. It wasn't until afterwards that I realised it wasn't real, not how I thought it was.

I'm sorry. You didn't deserve such a cruel trick. I'd be furious in your position.

So is mothering Nancy your way of coping with this?

That's not what I'm doing.

( except it really is. though she also mothers everyone at some point )

I know mothering when I see it. [ It's what Emma does all the time with the younger people she befriends here. ] There's nothing wrong with what you're doing. I wish I'd had someone to look out for me after my mom died.

[aeva]

I just want her to be safe in what she does, in this city. We all deserve that.

[skaikrudad]

We do.

She's gonna have fun working for me. Safe fun, I promise.
